Synopsis
Born in the wrath of Hurricane Katrina, Reilly After the Storm is an adventurous novel that begins in the past, yet hurtles toward the future at a fast pace.
Reilly is not a normal dog by any means. Torn from her roots deep in the Louisiana farming country as a puppy, whisked away to strange surroundings and into the path of a storm, Reilly finds herself at the beginning of a journey that will collide with those chasing her, those who want to save her, and those she must protect.
Along the way, she must face danger, escape and joy, all to find her place in this world.
The next book in the series, Reilly Lost in The Wildwood, is where we find our heroine up to her tail in more adventures, and even more danger than before. Four more books are planned in the series.
About the Author
Born in England, T.G. Sampson is a web applications developer in Ohio, where he lives with his wife, Gayl, their son, Jeff, and their dog, Reilly. He was inspired to write Reilly After the Storm by his love of the Lassie series, as well as by Reilly, a real Katrina survivor. The story is set before, during, and after the storm, but it does not end there. This heartwarming tale journeys through the hurricane of the century, a desperate chase, and finally, to a loving home.

This was very enjoyable book, and I had to force myself not to consult the final pages before time. Reilly is an adorable and likable little dog (of sorts), one cannot help but warm to her, and to those that are helping her.Writing a story like this one must be hard. Normal feelings of romantic love, which take up so much space in fiction, are by necessity absent here. That must tax the imagination of the author, I suppose, but Mr Sampson had no problems with that.
It was a pity that this book was let down a little by insufficient editing. In particular, there seemed to be an absence of paragraph breaks, and this was, at times, confusing.

Reading this book was a treat, the book keeps your attention. It was easy to follow along with Reilly on her adventure and keeps you wondering what is going to happen next. I would recommend this book to readers of all ages.
This book would be excellent to read to your young dog lover at bedtime. Each chapter would be an exciting adventure to continue for many nights. The other good point is that it is going to be a series so the adventures of Reilly will continue.
Fast paced and unique, Reilly After The Storm succeeds as a novel for all ages. This novel may be perfect for the middle grade students, but adults will enjoy it as well. You get a sense of the disaster of Hurricane Katrina and what the New Orleans area had to endure. Reilly endures it all and more! Engaging from the start, as Reilly moves through the dangers evoked from the storm, but mostly from devious scientist doing evil work on innocent puppies and dogs. Each step of the way, Reilly brings joy to all that encounters her. This book is action packed along with descriptions of the places Reilly goes which provides the reader easy visualization of the scenes.
Dog lovers and readers of all walks of life will enjoy reading this first novel by Sampson. Personally, I'm looking forward to the next book in the series, Reilly Lost in the Wildwood.

Good dog books are always fun to read. Reilly after the Storm is not just a good dog book; it's a great dog book. This story has everything, a cute, well written dog, interesting people, action, mystery and adventure. It is the whole package that can be enjoyed by adults, young and old. Reilly is an intriguing character and the reader is left guessing all the way to the end. It's heartfelt and well written. I am looking forward to the next Reilly adventure!
